We all know that once something exciting is on TV our timeline was flooded with tweets and trending topics about it. As part of Twitter’s effort to keep that traffic and encourage users to tweet while watching shows they are currently testing a new “TV Trending” feature.
The TV Trending feature would essentially highlight the most discussed shows in real time and make it easier for users to engage in convo and tweets about it. The trending shows appear as Twitter cards located on top of your timeline followed by information as well as top tweets about that program. They are also making it easier join into convos so when you click the compose button while on the page of the program it automatically gives you the hashtag to use for your tweet. This new feature would not only drive more traffic but also open doors to more advertising on the site.
