We heard about this back in July, but now we have a few more details on the solid gold belt that the winner of the Mayweather-Alvarez fight will receive.

The WBC did do something very cool for the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Canelo Alvarez fight. They created a solid gold belt to award the winner of Saturday’s bout.
WBC President Jose Sulaiman showed the belt off to the media on Tuesday. Here are the specs on the belt:
The green and gold belt, which was designed by a Mexican artisan, measures 1.28 meters in length by 30 centimeters in height and is made of pure gold and Italian leather. It also includes the Mexico Tourism logo, which will mark the winner as an ambassador of Mexico, not only in Mexico, but throughout the world.
The Mexican tourism logo and the Mexican flag are on the belt huh? What, are they anticipating a Canelo win or something?
“The WBC has produced a very special belt for this occasion,” Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaeffer said of the belt. “It’s a first time that they have melted a big gold bar into the belt. This is a belt made of pure gold.”
