Interesting interview with Ma$e. I must state that I’m a bit pulled back on the regards of his version of Hip-Hop Mt. Rushmore. I respect the hell out of his putting up B.I.G. & Nas. I know he didn’t like he shots at him from ‘Pac, but respect should be held towards him. Not praise, but respect.
I have respect for Weezy, but I can’t hold him over Em. Em doesn’t even flow rapidly all the time. That’s actually a rare moment for him to do that. So, on that particular note, I must disagree with Ma$e. I mean, that is his Rushmore. He’s speaking on what he believes in. It’s just that I can’t concur with that one.
If I had pull on having my own Hip-Hop/Rap Mt. Rushmore crafted, I’d have to get the whole mountain. On one side, I’d post the rappers. On the opposite side, I’d post the producers. Production side, I’d post DJ Premier, No I.D., Hi-Tek & [since I should post an prod that is commercially known(otherwise it would be the lady B.Fly, & that’s her moniker shortened)] I’d say Dr. Dre(no disrespect to Dre, it’s just that He’s become more diverse than merely Hip-Hop/Rap). For the emcees, I’d have to state B.I.G., Talib Kweli, Eminem & Black Thought(from The Roots). That’s easily my lyrical top notch within the known circle.
