Stand up comedian Donnell Rawlings AKA “Ashy Larry” from hit show Dave Chappelle was recently released from jail after doing a bid for driving drunk in Manhattan down a one way street….the wrong way. I kid kid. It wasn’t really a bid. More like a night in jail where he was forced to sleep it off. It appears that Rawlings was in a good mood when he left the county jail, because according to reports he had reporters rolling with his one night in jail stories! See what Donnell had to say inside, along with legal trouble he’s facing.

You can’t keep a funny man down for long… they’ll just find the humor in the situation. Which is just what Donnell did. The comedian is ordered to return back to court on August 8th, and could be facing a maximum of one year in jail. The comedian who blew a .12 for a breath test for police was way over the .08 maximum. According to him, he was a bit hit amongst of cell mates!

Page Six reports….

“The next time you see me play this character, hopefully, it’s on Law and Order,” he quipped Friday afternoon as he left Manhattan Criminal Court with a small group of pals.

I think as an African American anytime you see police lights and coming toward you say sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry, he quipped to reporters after a judge sprang him without bail.

Rawlings was apparently a hit with his fellow detainees, who he said gave him a standing ovation as he left the holding cell to be brought before the judge. “I heard, ‘Go Ashy Larry! We love you!” he recalled, referring to the character he played on Comedy Central’s Chapelle’s Show.”
