Fifteen-year-old Marlin Hamblin of Syracuse, Utah was laying on a blanket in her driveway sunbathing, listening to music on her headphones, when her older sister backed out of the garage and accidentally ran her over.

“Driver wasn’t paying attention, obviously didn’t think there would be anyone in the driveway, and just backed out of the driveway,” Officer Erin Behm of the Syracuse Police Dept. said.

Marli Hamblin was airlifted to Ogden Regional Medical Center in a coma. She died two days later.

Marli’s grandfather, Ron Hamblin says the sister isn’t coping very well since Merli’s death.

“She’s having a very difficult time, beating herself up, all we can do is encourage her you know, its just an accident, it can happen to anybody at any given time,” he said.

The sister is not facing any charges since it was just a tragic accident.

Now, all the Hamblin family can do is stay pray, cry and continue to stay togetherness as they cope with the loss of a bright young girl gone too soon.
