New studies conducted by the University of Grenoble in France have found that Men who have more spicy food in their diets are more likely to have higher testosterone levels. Men with high testosterone levels tend to be more outgoing and sexualy active then men with lower levels. The study conducted by professor Begue consisted of 114 males aged 18-44. Prior to the experiment the men were questioned about their eating habits and their saliva was tested for testosterone levels, Next the gentlemen were asked to spice a potato with Tabasco sauce and salt to their liking. When over the research concluded that men with higher levels of testosterone had put more Tobasco on their potato. Professor Begue explains that this study has also been affective on Rats, elaborating that chilli peppers were added to Rats food and when they were tested after testosterone levels had boosted in male Rats. Beague also talks about the effect that spicy food might have on women. Even though it leads to higher testosterone levels in men, women who indulge in spicy food would not see estrogen levels rise. Tests have not been conducted but it is possible that sexual drive may increase along with immune system effectiveness.
