60 year old Cynthia Rodriguez said she found the small plastic bag at the bottom of the granola bar wrapper. The grandmother from Texas was completely shocked to find out that the little baggy covered in dollar signs was not part of a promotion but was actually a bag of cocaine!

The grandmother had not bought the box of Nature’s Valley granola bars but had gotten them from a friend for free.

She said, “I was munching it from the wrapper, and when I finished eating it, I like the crumbs, so I shook it out to get them and the little packet popped out in my hand.” Rodriguez assumed that it was part of a promotion and that she had won a prize but when she called the company that was not the case. Representatives at General Mill’s advised her to call the police after she described the ‘prize’ to them.

According to Rodriguez, “[The police] tested it and said, ‘Congratulations, this is high-quality cocaine.’”

She was completely shocked and thankful that she was the one to open that bar and not one of her 11 grandchildren.

The San Antonio narcotics unit is following up on the mystery cocaine but no legal action is being taken at this time. They are working on figuring out exactly where the box was packaged.

General Mills released a statement saying, General Mills, “We are confident this did not happen in our facility.”
