We all know about Pacman Jones and his turbulent history but it seemed he had turned things around and was on the straight path, well until yesterday.  In the second quarter of the Bengals’ game at the Oakland Raiders, Jones ripped the helmet off of Raiders rookie wide receiver Amari Cooper and slammed his head on the helmet.

via Cincinnati.com:

“Whatever you seen, that’s what happened,” Jones said. “I’m not going to get into all that. I’m here to play football. I don’t back done from nobody and I ain’t out trying to start nothing. I’m just out playing football.”

Jones was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play, but the Bengals didn’t suffer any true consequence on the play, as Raiders offensive lineman Austin Howard was also flagged for unnecessary roughness.

“There, I was ‘in the moment’ in that play,” Jones said. “Like I said, we’re just out playing football. I’m not out to do that. I don’t want to hurt my team by no form or fashion but I’ve got to make sure I protect myself.”

As for Cooper, this is how the receiver recalled the play:

“I was blocking him on a long run and he got on top of me after the play and ripped my helmet off,” he said. “I mean, it’s football. It’s a physical game so you kind of expect it.”
