The night had finally come and everyone packed into bars and living room couches excited to watch Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez duke it out in the ring.

A full twelve rounds and over an hour later, Canelo Alvarez was deemed the victor of the showdown.

Cotto and Canelo literally went punch for punch and jab for jab for the full twelve rounds, but in the end it was Canelo who took the victory.

According to SB Nation, the fight was pretty close as the final round approached. Both fighters looked good, but Canelo was more strategic and used the 12th round as his last chance to shut down any questions of who would win the fight.

As in any fight, the momentum shifted between both fighters with Cotto showing signs of strength and power and when Canelo seemed down and out, and vice versa.

Alvarez’s victory was not much of a surprise as the social media streams seemed to flood with similar opinions of Canelo’s dominance.

In the end, the match was well fought and Canelo was voted, by unanimous decision, as the man on top.
