The Obama Administration has created a new program for inmates. The $30 million, Second Chance Pell Grant program will allow approximately 12,000 inmates the opportunity to receive financial aid. In effort to assist inmates with transitioning back into society. Laws have prohibited inmate eligibility for the past 22 years. It will be available in 141 state and federal correctional facilities. Inmates can receive up to $5,815.Funds can be applied towards any two or four year program at any of the 67 participating colleges and universities. Allowing them a better chance of starting a new page when they come out. That’s so dope.
