Two White Police Officers Reportedly Shoot Black Man in Chest in Illinois
Another day, another story of white officers causing harm to an innocent black life. This time, it happened in Decatur, Illinois and the victim was a 40-year-old man who was shot in the chest by police who were responding to a call about someone in possession of a handgun. He currently remains in serious condition. Interim Police Chief James Getz revealed that the police officers were not wearing body cameras, but that cameras in the police vehicles had captured video of the incident, and that the video was being reviewed as a part of the investigation. Another black man was shot and killed by police Saturday morning in Houston, TX. Police said that Alva Baziel was waving around a gun and pointed it at them when they opened fire. But surveillance footage from a nearby gas station shows otherwise. The video, which began to circulate Saturday night on Twitter, shows Braziel walk out toward an intersection. When the squad car arrives, he appears to put his hands in the air and turn around, standing still for a few seconds before police shoot him.
