Machine Gun Kelly Debuts At #4 With ‘General Admission’

Congrats are in order for my boy Machine Gun Kelly! He has the number 1 hip-hop in the country this week with the debut of his sophomore album General Admission, and the number 4 album overall! The project sold a solid 56k units in its first week in stores, and beating 2012’s Lace Up, which debuted and peaked at number 4 with 51k sold. The Game comes in at 6 with The Documentary 2.5 selling 48k, which is pretty dope – considering last week’s The Documentary also sold really well. In the coming weeks, the Compton rapper will package them together as a joint album. Check out this week’s top 10 below!

First Week Sales Projections For MGK, Joe Budden & The Game Are In!

This past Friday, Machine Gun Kelly, Joe Budden and The Game all released new albums, although Game’s was basically just a part 2 of his release the week prior. Game did a double disc for his new album The Documentary 2, but instead broke the release up into 2 weeks, and dubbed this one The Documentary 2.5. In the coming weeks, he will release a hard copy with both discs in the packaging. Early forecasts are now in, and it looks like Game and MGK are neck-in-neck for the top spot on the Hip-Hop chart on Billboard. (Demi Lovato and Pentatonix are going to take the lead on the overall chart.) Both General Admission and The Documentary 2.5 are on pace to sell around 45-50k units, while Joe’s All Love Lost is looking to move around 15-18k. Let us know your thoughts on the numbers in the comments!

Cameron Crowe’s Showtime Pilot Starring Machine Gun Kelly Officially Picked Up By Network

Earlier this year, Machine Gun Kelly was cast in Cameron Crowe’s TV series ROADIES, and the cast and crew filmed the one-hour pilot for Showtime out in Vancouver. Now 10 months later – just as Kells is preparing to release his sophomore album tomorrow – he got the news that the show has officially been picked up by the network! “Showtime picked up the pilot,” MGK wrote on Instagram with a photo of the email from Crowe. “i’ll save this email forever. looks like your boy is officially in a TV series. #Roadies” The show will focus on the lives of a group of roadies on tour, and give “an inside look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of characters who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way.” Kells will be playing the role of Jesse, twin brother to the main character and a guy who “thrives around guitars and espresso machines.” The show is set to air next year, but you can get a [very brief] look via the trailer below!
