News dropped today that Disney star, Zendaya, had dropped the role of Aaliyah for Lifetime’s upcoming Biopic. At first the actress made no comment but on the BET red carpet today she opened up to Karrueche Tran about why she had to turn the role down. Find out what she had to say after the jump!
Zendaya Coleman DROPS Aaliyah Role For Biopic?!
Well I guess the young Disney Channel Star couldn’t take the heat. After petitions and racial remarks of Zendaya not being “black enough” for the role of Aaliyah, it seems she has officially given up the role. E! News reports that a representative for the 17-year-old actress says “Zendaya is no longer involved in the project.” Lifetime, who was excited to announce her starring as the lead in the biopic on June 16, has not commented. Aaliyah’s family has made it very clear that Lifetime’s upcoming Aaliyah biopic is just not good enough for her memory.
