As of 2 p.m. today, the update shows that Irene hit North Carolina early this morning as a category 1 hurricane and is currently heading north. Reports say that winds are 80-90 mph in NC and expected rainfall can be up to 12 inches. NC has flooding, damage to buildings, and there has been two hurricane-related deaths.
