The Tribe is one of the best rap groups the world has ever seen, but sometimes I feel the new generation does not appreciate them enough. In the 90’s when almost every major act was gangsta rap, A Tribe Called Quest were one of the few that rap about something different. As a result, they influenced many ‘backpack’ rappers. Kanye West always says A Tribe Called Quest was his biggest influence. I like to view The Tribe as the first backpack rappers.
