Since the reveal of this year’s Oscar nominations, critics of the 88th Annual Awards show have slammed the Academy for their lack of diversity. Actors and fans alike, have spoken out to express their views and question why so many black films in particular have been tossed aside. Actress Jada Pinkett Smith has been one of the more vocal critics and s he expressed her thoughts on the matter in a statement on Facebook over the weekend. She wrote,
At the Oscars…people of color are always welcomed to give out awards…even entertain, but we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments. Should people of color refrain from participating all together? People can only treat us in the way in which we allow.
Following her statement, Pinkett-Smith shared an emotional video expressing her thoughts further and announcing she will not be attending this years Awards. Check out more below.
In her poised, yet powerful video, Jada Pinkett Smith says;
“Maybe it’s time we pull back our resources and we put them back into our communities, and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit, that are just as good as the so-called mainstream.”
Jada added, “We can no longer beg for the love, acknowledgement or respect of any group.”

Its not news to my wife or myself that this type of treatment is still going on today. Mrs. Hall was hurt broken hearted just last week by the pain of human beings showing thier disgust for her and myself by. simply not speaking to us as we were in a almost helpless situation . We were in the parking lot of Pepboys on Hollywood and Gower. The details are not important. However the lack of humane concern for a fellow citizen is more then sad. So to ask my family or anyone we care for is unnecessary you see we are proud to stand beside those who have been given a pass to be on the inside of the devils door. Where they find there is another door they can not enter. You see when people are afraid and live life cosumed with fears they will always have to find another door to hide behind. To speak about the rights they have to separate and do wrong because doing the right thing would prove others can be amazing no matter how much there oppressors hold them back. Yes Mr. And Mrs. Ronald P. Hall and Dolly C. Hall support the protest lead by Jada Pinket Smith..
