Everyone knows Common is a native of Chicago and how much he still loves his city. Turns out as a kid he had a great reason to love the city as well and that was because he was lucky enough to be a ball boy for the Bulls during the earlier parts of Michael Jordan’s career. He came up with a nice little business too when MJ started giving him game worn pairs of Kicks and Common decided to sell them rather than hold onto them.

“I used to get his gym shoes and everything,” Common remembers. “That was my buddy when I was a ballboy. It was an incredible job—people in my neighborhood loved me because I would get the gym shoes, I actually would sell them.”

He even goes on to talk about how one time he forged Jordan’s autograph and it was because MJ actually told him to do it. Check out the full interview on “Live With Kelly & Michael”
