Most people were pretty confident that Ronda Rousey was going to make a triumphant return to the octagon last night against Amanda Nunes after her loss last year to Holly Holm. Nunes and her team were some of the very few who thought Rousey would go down and they damn sure were right. You already know Nunes beat her down for 48 seconds until the ref saved Rousey’s life but her own corner had some very interesting reactions while it was all happening.

Ronda Rousey’s coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, caught some heat after her loss to Holm because he keeps wanting Rousey to be more of a boxer, rather than a wrestler. Even though the majority of her wins came by submission, he insisted she stand toe to toe with Holm and the result was her catching some sweet chin music and losing the fight badly.

Last night was more of the same, as he wanted her to throw her hands with Nunes, who clearly was more than happy to accommodate them. Tarverdyan tried to yell instructions from the corner but you can hear his tone changing very rapidly as he realizes Rousey is in big trouble. When it was all over he simply could not believe it.

Since this was more than likely the last time Rousey will fight, he won’t have any more chances to be hard headed and be a terrible trainer for her.
