Giving Back: Chinx Is Helping Out Single-Parent Homes For Chinxmas

It’s the season of giving, and Coke Boys rapper Chinx will be doing just that this Christmas! I mean, this Chinxmas! Every day during the month of December, Chinx will be giving multiple prize packs to select fans who post proof of download of his projects with the hashtag #Chinxmas. It doesn’t stop there, however! Aside from the prize packs, Chinx will provide “family fun days” for children in single parent homes who really need some cheer during the holiday season. “I come from a single-parent home,” explains Chinx, “Though my mom did the best job she could of trying to get us things we wanted, I’m sure she could have used some help! This is my way giving back and helping a few families that really need it.” How sweet is that? To partake in the contest, Chinx will be accepting submissions over the next 12 days. Participants are encouraged to submit videos or letters showing why their family (or a family they know) deserves this special family fun day with Chinx. Rules to the 12 Days of Chinxmas below!

(Photos) Karen Civil Donates $41k To To Build Playground In Haiti For Her 30th Birthday

For her 30th birthday this past weekend, media mogul and very good friend of the site, Karen Civil, decided to give a gift instead of receiving one. The industry power-player linked up with Sow A Seed and Project PlayWorld to donate over $40,000 and build the “Live Civil Playground” at Prodev-operated school Ecole Nouvelle Zoranje in Village de la Renaissance in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, made out of environmentally sound and recycled materials. “I believe in the power of play,” Karen said about giving a gift on her birthday. “Unfortunately, Haiti does not have many safe environments for children to play and express themselves. Coming from a Haitian-American home, I thought it was necessary to give back to the country in which my parents were raised. That is why I believe in Project PlayWorld’s efforts to to provide secure playing spaces for the children of Haiti with the Live Civil Playground.” The playground will officially be open this February. What an amazing feat! Congrats, Karen and happy birthday again! (Photos) Machine Gun Kelly Gives Back To Students In Queens, NY

The media always focuses on the crazy antics of most of our favorite artists, so when they do something positive, I always try to highlight it! Machine Gun Kelly’s ‘No Class Tour’ rolled through the Big Apple last night, and after a night of partying in celebration of Kells’ road manager Dre’s birthday and the 2-year anniversary of Kells’ debut album Lace Up, the EST crew made their way out to Queens to hang out with the kids this afternoon. “Cooked up 3 big trays of chicken and beef sliders, and gave em away to the kids getting out of school today at Burgandy’s Cafe,” MGK wrote on Instagram. “Good food for good kids.” Looks like the kids were truly appreciative! [No word on K’s cooking skills just yet though. Ha!] More pics in the gallery. The ‘No Class Tour‘ continues tomorrow night in Boston.

(Photos) #DontStealPossible Rally Brought 21,000 Parents & Teachers Together Over NYC’s Education Crisis

It’s always a beautiful thing when people come together for a great cause! The #DontStealPossible rally went down in Foley Square, NYC on Thursday, with over 21,000 parents and teachers coming together to raise awareness and take a stand against the education crisis in NYC. Street artist Greg Lamarche created an amazing mural, having students assist in its’ completion throughout the duration of the rally – which called for bold, urgent action to expand access to great schools. Among the supporters was Questlove, who was also on hand to DJ. “This morning I took a stand for kids’ education, because every child deserves a good school and a great education,” Quest said in a statement. Greg Lamarche will be rolling out 5 more murals in the 5 boroughs over the next few weeks for #DontStealPossible. Keep up with the initiative on Instagram!
