(Photos) NBA: Still Mad? Seattle News Channel Refuses To Acknowledge Oklahoma City Thunder By Name

This is actually pretty funny. KIRO 7, a television station local to Seattle, Washington is refusing to address the OKC Thunder by their current name. They have vowed in fact not too mention them at all unless the reference is based on the old team. The Thunder moved from Seattle in 2008 when they obviously were called the Sonics. This station still holds a grudge. After the Thunder lost their game 1 matchup with the Clippers, the station covered the game like usual, but check out what they call the Thunder during the newscast.

(Video) NBA: Kevin Durant Gives Emotional, Tearful Speech While Accepting MVP Award

Kevin Durant had basketball fans all over the country fighting back tears yesterday during his MVP acceptance speech. After accepting the award, KD spoke for about 28 minutes with no pre-written speech, just spoke from the heart. He thanked each teammate individually, with special comments saved for Russell Westbrook. Surprisingly enough, he also had extra special words for Kendrick Perkins and Caron Butler for messages they have given him throughout the season. He broke down in tears numerous times, but especially when talking about his mom, calling her the real MVP. This was by far the best acceptance speech in NBA history. Nothing was cliche about it. Hit the jump.

(Video) NBA: Mr. Unreliable Huh? Kevin Durant Goes Off For Thunder, Forces Game 7 Against Grizzlies

The newspaper from Oklahoma City that disrespected Kevin Durant with the headline “Mr. Unreliable” has already apologized to KD, but after last nights performance they should be feeling even worse. Facing elimination and negative critics, Durant was his usual superstar self as he dropped 36 points and grabbed 10 rebounds en route to helping OKC blow out Memphis 104-84. Russell Westbrook also added 25 points for the Thunder who looked totally focused from the start and never let up. OKC grabbed control early and never let go and anytime Memphis made it close the Thunder would again pull away. The two teams head back to OKC for a deciding game 7 on Saturday night. Hit the jump.

(Video) NBA: MRI Shows Russell Westbrook is Fine After Knee Injury Against the Raptors

Oklahoma City Thunder fans had quite a scare on Friday night during their double-overtime win against the Toronto Raptors.  After knee-knee contact with Kyle Lowry, Westbrook was visibly hurting and did not return to the game, but there’s good news.

NBA: Report, Caron Butler Will Sign With The Oklahoma City Thunder!

Not sure how much it will matter at this point, but Caron Butler, who was put on waivers by the Milwaukee Bucks will sign with the Thunder tomorrow. He is a far cry from the player he was years ago and was not performing too well on the Bucks either. However he is a smart veteran who has been in tight playoff situations before and could be a big help off the bench for OKC, especially if he can knock down open shots he is sure to see with all the attention Durant and Westbrook will see. He also, similar to Derek Fisher could be a good mentor for some of the young players on the Thunder roster as well. Many people thought he would sign with the Miami Heat once he was put on waivers but instead he chose to be part of the OKC organization. He should be in uniform for the teams first game after Saturday.

NBA: Thunder Hoping Russell Westbrook Returns Thursday Against the Miami Heat

The Oklahoma City Thunder are doing quite well although they’ve been without their star point guard Russell Westbrook.  They currently have a league best 43-12 record with Kevin Durant shooting lights out, but it looks like he’ll get his partner back real soon.
