BET Announces Sheila E, The Roots, D’Angelo + More For BET Awards Prince Tribute

BET will pay tribute to the late Prince at the 2016 BET Awards this year, following his untimely passing in April. Many were upset at Madonna’s attempt to honor her friend at the Billboard Music Awards last month, and following that show, BET promised to deliver a much better one. The Roots Picnic Is Coming To NYC This Fall!

The Roots have put on a major festival in their hometown of Philadelphia every first Saturday of June for nine years, and now they’re expanding the event to NYC – and it will be two days long! The Roots Picnic will hit Bryant Park in Manhattan for the first time ever on October 1 and 2, and performers include D’Angelo, John Mayer, Kevin Gates, Jeremih, Stretch & Bobbitto, Chill Moody, Wu-Tang, Nile Rodgers, Swizz Beatz, EPMD, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Lil Uzi Vert and so many more! Questlove Comments On Lauryn Hill’s Behavior

As you may have heard, Lauryn Hill has been under scrutiny for her chronic tardiness for years, and it came to a head when she arrived to a show in Atlanta 3 hours late over the weekend – then blamed it on the “alignment” of her “energy.” To make matters worse, she was late again last night in Virginia. While some feel that her legacy overpowers any wrongdoing from lateness or related behavior, others don’t see it that way at all – and Questlove is one of those people.
