Yesterday [July 1] was a L.I.T. situation for CNN Anchor Lynne Russell and her husband, Chuck de Caro. A road trip turned Motel 6 shootout killed one, and wounded another. Details down bottom.

While taking a road trip, Russell and her husband were feeling tired, the reason they decided to rest up at a Motel 6. The 68-year-old says that as her husband was taking a shower, she went back out to their car to get something – what is was, we don’t know – and upon her walk back to the room, there was the gunman.

“He pushed me into the room and that’s when my husband came out of the shower and saw what was happening,” Russell told Albuquerque station KOB-TV. “We tried to calm him, confuse him and do everything we could do to just come out of it in one piece.”

Russell adds that the gunman grabbed her husband’s briefcase, and then just began shooting. Although her husband ducked behind furniture, the gunman was taken out, and he was shot three times.

“He’s in a lot of pain,” she said. “He took three shots, including a couple to the abdomen. But magically, his organs were not affected.

“He’s my hero. He saved my life,” Russell added.

Apparently, officers believe that this was a random robbery attempt.

Can I say this … Bish, please! IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY DAMN SENSE TO ME! Someone eased their way in, or near your motel room at gunpoint, and at that exact moment your husband was coming out of the shower with his gun in the air. Hmm, I feel an Investigative Discovery channel dramatization in the near future. Something is not right about this story.
