T.I.

T.I. has been in the hot seat all week after issuing sexist comments about voting for a female president during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid on Shade 45. Since then he’s received a ton of backlash from everyone on social media, to his wife Tiny and even Oprah!

Following the outrage, the ATL rapper issued an apology on Twitter simply stating, “My comments about women running for president were unequivocally insensitive and wrong, I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended.” However his efforts were not greeted kindly, forcing Tip to apologize again.

In a video posted on YouTube, T.I. stated,

“First and foremost, I want to say I apologize to the women that I know and that know me, my mother, my wife, my daughters, my cousins, my nieces, my sisters, my aunties. All of you I’ve seen put homes, businesses, families on your back, and do things that were unthinkable. And seemingly impossible…To the people that don’t know me, I never intended to be taken as though I felt women couldn’t be leaders. That was not my intention. I know better than that. I know that my daughters, as well as your daughters can lead this nation. As well as any other nation. As long as they apply themselves and educate themselves.”

He went on to defend his comments, “I was on a platform, DJ Whoo Kid, where we say a lot of outrageous things,” he continued, “Talk about a lot of taboo topics. Have a lot of barbershop talk. Say some things that are borderline inappropriate. Borderline offensive…This time I reached for a joke that was in very poor taste, using a stereotype associated to women that I should not have done.”
