Lil Wayne will release his next album, I Am Not A Human Being II, on February 19th, and he’s calling upon his famous friends for help. While there will undoubtedly be some good features on the album, that’s not what I’m referring to just yet. One of his past collaborators will be the chief designer of the album’s artwork! This person won’t be featured musically on the album, but I’m sure their designs will speak volumes, as he’s very talented in that aspect as well and even recently started a company just for projects like this. “You probably gotta ask him because it was his idea,” Wayne told MTV about the cover. “I was just like ‘okay, do whatever,’ because I don’t do nothing but rapping.” Find out who in the gallery! Juelz Santana has been promising new music for a long time now, but nothing has ever really come out of it. He hasn’t put out an album since 2005’s What The Game’s Been Missing!, nor a solo mixtape since 2006. He’d been promoting The Reagan Era mixtape for years, but now he’s scrapped that idea and changed the title to God Will’n…and it looks like it’s giving him the boost that he needed. Not only did he finally put out a song yesterday (“Bodies” featuring GBE’s Lil Reese,) but last night, he hit the studio in Miami with someone known for more than a few hits…DJ Khaled! Rihanna’s 777 Tour started out as one of the most innovative ideas from an artist in a long time…travel the world for 7 days and bring 200 fans and journalists on a private plane with you to give them an intimate, inside look. Yea, it sounds great, but what it turned out to be…not so much. Rihanna only interacted with her passengers on the very first day, pouring champagne and getting the plane amped up, but has been the subject of her song “Where Have You Been” ever since then. Naturally, this leaves for some very unhappy campers, and they actually ended up so nuts over it two nights ago, they staged an impromptu “revolt” of sorts that included chanting for Rihanna to come back to their section on the plane. “Save our jobs!”,”Just one quote!” were just some of the many lines yelled from coach. A radio jock from Australia even streaked down all the aisles of the plane but still, no Rih. The reports from writers on board (on sites like Billboard, Rolling Stone, Global Grind, Spin) as well as the tweets are nowhere near positive, and word had to have gotten back to Rihanna. It’s a somber Halloween in this part of the country, as many little ones in NY, NJ and PA aren’t able to go trick-or-treating as usual today. Kendrick Lamar truly solidified his position in the game this week, moving over 240k units of his debut album ‘good kid, m.A.A.d City’ in its first week in stores. The Dr. Dre protege had some major cosigns in his corner, but it’s safe to say no amount of cosigns will take you THAT far. The kid has m.A.A.d. fans. Now of course he’s not even holding a torch to Taylor Swift’s number one debut Red this week, moving 1.2 MILLION units….but there is something to say about it being available for 99 cents on Amazon. Chief Keef May Be Headed Back To Jail!
Bad news for Chicago rapper Chief Keef…and it’s definitely that ish he don’t like. Some choices he’s made over the past few months during his new-found rap career have violated the terms of the probation he’d been put on before the fame, stemming from an incident where he’d pointed a gun at a Chicago police officer. Now, a recent interview he did with Pitchfork, a crowd the cops found him around and failure to finish one of the tasks he was to complete on probation could all result in some more time behind bars. Honestly, I’m not totally opposed to that. Perhaps a reform program would be better, though. Judging by his behavior when fellow Chicago rapper Lil Jojo was killed, the people he’s still hanging around despite the fact he has a career to focus on and various other factors, the 17 year old rapper clearly has some growing and learning to do.
