NBA: Knicks Amar’e Stoudemire receives ovation in his return to Phoenix; had 23 pts, 9 rebounds, & 2 blocks vs. the Suns

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl Amare Stoudemire made a triumphant return to Phoenix, and his New York Knicks put on a performance that mirrored the high-flying Suns of years gone by. The Knicks buried Phoenix with an avalanche of 17 3-pointers in a 121-96 rout Friday night. The 17 3s, in 33 attempts, matched New York’s season high and were second most in franchise history.  Stoudemire received a rousing ovation when he was introduced. “It was great,” he said. “It lets me know that the fans are still appreciative of the hard work I put on this court and the perseverance to injuries. It was a great ovation, and I love the Phoenix fans forever.”


NBA: Celtics keep it going…streak up to 12

Kevin Garnett had 17 points and 14 rebounds — one of three Boston players with a double-double — to lead the Celtics to their 12th straight win, 102-90 over theAtlanta Hawks on Thursday night.


NBA: Tim Duncan becomes Spurs all time scoring leader in win last night

NFL to announce suspensions for helmet-to-helmet hits – Effective THIS weekend!

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl The NFL will announce by Wednesday that players will be suspended for devastating hits and head shots, according to a report Monday night by ESPN.  The announcement would be effective immediately and include even first-time offenders of helmet-to-helmet hits.


UPDATE: Broncos WR McKinley found dead in apparent suicide

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP)—For the third time in four years, the Denver Broncos are dealing with the death of a teammate. Wide receiver Kenny McKinley(notes) was found dead in his home Monday in an apparent suicide. Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said authorities were called to McKinley’s home in Centennial at 3:35 p.m. local time and found McKinley’s body in the second-floor master bedroom. He said detectives believe McKinley, 23, was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Robinson said authorities were called by a female friend of McKinley’s who discovered the body after returning from an errand with his child. The sheriff declined to say if authorities found a suicide note.
