The Boston Pops Holiday concerts at Symphony Hall are one of Boston’s most beloved holiday traditions. This holiday season, Bostonians are in for a huge treat at the Holiday Pops concert in the form of Boston Celtics star Shaquille O’Neal. The Pops announced today that “Shaq” will perform as a Guest Conductor on Monday night and will lead the Boston Pops in a rendition of “Sleigh Ride.”

Boston and Shaq: A love affair

Since coming to Boston, Shaq has embraced the city’s people and culture. He has posed as a statue in Harvard Square and also gave out presents to children as “Shaq-a-Claus, Bostonians can only guess what Shaq has in mind for an encore after his Holiday Pops appearance. We can only wait and wonder.

The Boston Pops Holiday Concerts

This year’s Pops Holiday Season runs December 8-26 and includes 37 pre- and post-Christmas evening and matinee concerts, according to information from the Boston Holiday Pops website. The Holiday Pops season also includes seven special kids’ matinee concerts on:

  • Friday, December 10 (4 p.m.)
  • Saturday, December 11 (11 a.m.)
  • Sunday, December 12 (11 a.m.)
  • Friday, December 17 (4 p.m.)
  • Saturday, December 18 (11 a.m.)
  • Sunday, December 19 (11 a.m.)
  • Friday, December 24 (11 a.m.).

The family concerts include a children’s sing-along.  Parent can bring cameras to take photos of their children with Santa after the concert. Table seats will include a kid-friendly menu, along with special holiday treats.
