The Cincinnati Bengals are ready to move on without Carson Palmer. Not surprisingly, ESPN reports — via Adam Schefter on Twitter — that in their hunt for a replacement starting quarterback, team officials have interest in Philadelphia Eagles backup Kevin Kolb. Part of the reasoning is that Kolb’s position coach from a year ago, James Urban, has moved on to coach the Bengals’ wide receivers.

The Bengals also have a new offensive coordinator, Jay Gruden. With his brother being Jon Gruden, that puts Jay right there with the extended West Coast-principled offensive “family”, in which Eagles coach Andy Reid would be deemed a respected elder.
