Shortly after his Dallas Mavericks won the NBA championship, team owner Mark Cuban said he would pay for a victory parade in Dallas.
Well, the city has presented Cuban with the $340,947 tab.

According to a memorandum obtained by The Dallas Morning News, the city provided 540 police officers and 132 firefighters/paramedics for the event.

The city also provided employees from offices of special events, public information, emergency management, risk management and public works.

The complete memo from the city can be viewed here.

When asked Thursday about paying more than $340,000 for the parade, Cuban told the Galloway & Co. radio show on KESN-FM that he “got off cheap.”

Why was it so cheap?

“Dallas fans were phenomenal,” Cuban said. “They picked up after themselves.”

Added Cuban: “Literally, when I said it, I had no idea what it would cost. . . . I tried to do the right thing.”
