The iconic beauty Marilyn Monroe was laid to rest this day 49 years ago. She paved the way for the Kim K’s and the Coco’s that we love to look at in 2011. I’m definitely a Marilyn fan but no one beats my girl Honey when it comes to all things Monroe so check out her tribute in words, pics and video after the jump. RIP double M!!

Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jeane Mortenson, but baptized Norma Jeane Baker. She signed her first official modeling contract in 1946 & has been in our lives since then. Marilyn was the sex symbol of her time & still is now. She was more than just a pretty face, she was a wondrous performer. In 1999 she was ranked as the sixth greatest female star of all time by the American Film Institute.
Celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Kelly Osbourne, etc have all re-enacted some part of Marilyn’s life. It is even rumored that Scarllet is to playing Marilyn in an upcoming movie.
Marilyn first stole my heart when I saw “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”. I fell in love with “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend”. The song & her performance was just fabulous.
