Many are waiting for the release of the movie, The Butler to come out seeing as it’s based on a time period that made history for us all. The Butler stars, Forest Whitaker, Oprah, Cuba Gooding Jr, and many others, so it’s bound to be a smash hit, but it looks like we may have to wait longer than we thought. The maker of the anticipated film, Weinstein Company is going back and forth with Warner Bros., who OWNS the rights to the title, The Butler. Hit the jump for more details.

“I think there is an ulterior motive,” says Harvey Weinstein about Warner Bros. Back in 1916, the Warner Bros. company released a short film titled, The Butler and they’ve updated the rights to that title as recent as 2010. Many movie titles as well as song titles have been repeated, but it just might be because it’s a civil rights movie that they are trying to take this one and keep it. The two companies went to court and things were ruled in favor of WB, but Weinstein is appealing things.
What other possible names could they use? The Server, Maids Made…I hope it all works out, because I’m really interested in watching this movie sooner rather than later.
