The latest movie comedy ‘Drinking Buddies’ which hit theaters yesterday actually, has the story line of two Chicago brewery co-workers who spend their days flirting at work. They are perfect for each other yet in separate relationships with other people. One of the actresses in the movie has come forward in admitting that she was actually drunk on set during a scene! The beautifully talented Anna Kendrick admitted to being a little tipsy on set during one of her scenes in the new movie, ‘Drinking Buddies’! The actress plays the girlfriend of one of the coworkers in the brewery. The director did not give the cast a script but only told them an outline of what should take place in each scene, so when Kendrick got a little tipsy I’m sure that made for amazing improv!
Anna Kendrick expressed how embarrassed she was when she got “really” drunk after chugging cups of what she thought was the fake beer, because she did not know how she would act drunk! She stated in an interview with Vulture:
“During a scene at the bar, they gave me fake beer, but then during a scene where I’m playing cards with Jake, they gave me real beer, and I didn’t realize it! And so every time I lost, I was pounding beer, and I didn’t realize it was real until halfway through the take. I was like, I’m super drunk right now! And so as soon as the take was over, I had to announce to everybody that I was drunk at work. I was horrified by the idea that I was going to be the next troublesome star who got drunk and started flipping over tables or whatever. I just tried to sit quietly until I sobered up”.
Her co star and love interest Jake Johnson knew that the actress was feeling it, she couldn’t hide her tipsiness from him!
“Anna is one of the bigger lightweights I’ve ever been around,” he told The Daily Beast in March. “She chugged a real beer thinking it was nonalcoholic, and got drunk instantly.”
Olivia Wilde another co-star and one of the protagonists in the film added:
“however, the booze was part of the film’s very fabric. “The reason we wanted to drink the beer wasn’t to loosen up, it was because we were working within this very specific world in the film — the craft-beer world of Chicago — so we wanted to be able to improvise accordingly,” Wilde said in a separate interview with The Daily Beast”
Well who says you can’t work and play at the same time? Anna Kendrick has proven it! Her modesty and fun ways makes her an easy favorite for me!
