Mass Appeal Creative Director Sacha Jenkins and CEO Peter Bittenbender sat down with for an interview and revealed that Nas is currently finishing up his last album on Def Jam. Soon after he puts it out, he will focus on Lost Tapes 2.

When ask about the Lost Tapes 2 in a interview this is what Bittenbender had to say.

Actually, I love talking about it, because every time I talk about it, I feel like I’m helping bring it to life. Nas is working to deliver this next record to Def Jam, which will be his last [for them]. I haven’t been too involved in that, so I can’t tell you when it’s coming. Once that’s out, then Lost Tapes will follow shortly after. It’ll definitely be a 2016 release, hopefully earlier in the year than later. The music’s amazing. It carries on what he built with the first Lost Tapes. The fans are gonna love it.

So we should expect two Nas albums? I don’t know about you, but this is the greatest news I’ve heard all week. Personally, to me the Lost Tapes is one of the most slept on Nas project. With standout tracks like Du-Rags, Blaze a 50, Purple, and Poppa Was A Playa, I would think that classic album would be mention more in hip-hop discussions. So if the Lost Tapes 2 is anything like it’s predecessor, then we are in for a treat.

Hopefully we can get an AZ feature and a Du-Rags Part 2. Someone call Nas and make it happen for the hip-hop purist still supporting him.
