I really hope Justin Bieber learns how to pick his friends better, or they get smarter! Out of all the weed toting artists out there, authorities continue to go for JB and his crew. This time around, TMZ reports that Justin and his entourage have been detained at the Brisbane, Australia airport for a search of drugs. One of the fellas – not Justin – was found with a hefty amount of the greenery, arrested and released. Sad part, he has to go all the way back to Australia to face the charges. TSK TSK!
Fast-Food Workers Protest To Raise Minimum Wage
Washington, New York and Detroit – only three of the 100+ cities participating in a protest to raise the federal minimum wage. “Fight for 15,” seems to be fast-food workers’ motto. All around the country, we have workers on strike, walking into work with pick-it signs, chanting slogans such as, “hey hey, ho ho, $7.40 has got to go!” Tyeisha Batts, 27, protesting in New York makes $7.25hr. “My boss took me off the schedule because she knows I’m participating,” to raise the minimum wage to $15hr. States, such as, New Jersey, California, and Connecticut have changed the amount in what they are paying for the bare minimum. I guess that’s a start. These people may have some luck. In a city like New York, where $7.25 won’t get you far at all, officials need to commit. Especially with Presidet Obama lowering the hours a part-time worker is allowed.
Bill Bratton To Lead NYPD Again, According To Bill De Blasio’s Campaign Officials
New commissioner on the way! According to two of mayor-elect Bill de Blasio’s campaign officials, Bill Bratton is being named to lead the NYPD. Bratton, who had the position between 1994-1996, along with de Blasio is looking to drop crime rates and build a counter-terrorism program for the Big Apple. Prior to Bratton taking the chair in the 90s, murder numbers were 1,946 citywide. By the time his stint ended, numbers looked like 983, the first time it had dipped under 1,000 since 1968, so you could see why they’re trying to bring the man back. Will he succeed? It has been more than 15 years.
