NFL: Josh Gordon to Argue He Failed Drug Test Due to Second Hand Smoke

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is facing a year suspension from the NFL after failing a drug test.  The seemingly troubled WR, who’s in Stage III of the NFL’s drug program appeared to have gotten himself in deep trouble yet again, but he’s arguing against the validity of the recent test.

Derrick Rose is not the typical star of today that’s buddy-buddy with the other stars.  In fact there were numerous reports that Rose would not participate in the Bulls recruitment of Carmelo Anthony.  That didn’t mean that Rose didn’t want Anthony in Chicago, it actually was quite the opposite.  Rose wanted Anthony to join him and even went out of his usual character and made a small pitch.


NFL: Richard Sherman Throws Shot After Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson Gets 5-Year, $70 Million Extension

Patrick Peterson took to his Twitter account to announce he and the Arizona Cardinals agreed to a mega five-year, $70 million contract extension with $48 million guaranteed.  The deal will make Peterson the highest paid cornerback in the league, which of course made someone not too happy.  Everyone knows that Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman regards himself as the best corner in the league and now Peterson’s extension surpasses both his  (four years, $56 million) and Cleveland Browns CB Joe Haden (five years, $68 million).  Sherman took to his Twitter account to indirectly say how he feels about the deal.


NBA: Steve Nash Finally Confirms He’s Planning His Retirement

Despite being 40 years old, missing 67 games last season and 32 the year before, Steve Nash still was unwilling to throw in the towel.  He made it quite clear that he’s determined to finish out his contract with the Lakers and since he’s set to make almost $10 million next year, you can see why.  Well it appears next season is finally the end of the road for the veteran point guard.


NBA: Players Union Elect First Female Executive Director, Michele Roberts

Michele Roberts, a powerful Washington D.C. litigator, has been elected as the next executive director of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), better known as the players union, according to multiple reports. She is the first woman to hold the position and replaces Billy Hunter, who was forced out 17 months ago amid charges of nepotism and other concerns.
