Adidas in the Quarter ramped up on Friday at 2014 NBA All-Star in New Orleans with events featuring NBA All-Star John Wall of the Washington Wizards and NBA Legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Dikembe Mutombo.
Adidas unveiled its 2014 FIFA World Cup away uniforms for Spain, Germany, Argentina (#1, #2 and #3 in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings, respectively), Russia and Mexico. Like each country’s home uniforms that were unveiled in October/November, the design of the uniforms are inspired by the history or culture of each country.
On Friday the finalists were announced for this years Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductees. Retired commissioner David Stern was given an automatic entry to the hall while retired players like Tim Hardaway and more were named as finalists.
Once again Secretary of Education Arne Duncan dominated the celebrity All-Star game. Duncan was the co-captain of the Harvard basketball team while he was in college and apparently he hasn’t lost it. He finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. He was robbed of the MVP trophy a couple years ago and once again the fans gave it to Kevin Hart. This time however, Hart who had seven points and four assists conceded that Duncan was the real MVP and gave him the trophy.
Though the heat has cooled down off Dwight Howard after his controversial departure from the Orlando Magic and disappointing season with the Los Angeles Lakers, this comment is sure to start them back up again.
Andre Drummond was named the MVP of Friday night’s Rising Stars Challenge, but the trophy for the accomplishment was almost broken beyond repair before it ever made it into his hands.
