Last night the NBA world was rocked when the Oklahoma City Thunder traded James Harden to the Houston Rockets. Harden was seeking a max contract worth four years $60 million which would put the Thunder over the salary cap. The Thunder unlike the Lakers weren’t willing to go over the cap and suffer the new steeper luxury tax penalty. According to Yahoo Sports they offered Harden up to $54 million which he rejected so general manager Sam Presti moved swiftly to trade him avoiding any Dwight-like drama. Read more after the jump. NFL: Former Vikings RB Michael Bennett Sentenced to 15 Months in Jail For Fraud
A former NFL first-round draft pick has received a 15-month federal sentence for taking part in a Florida fraud scheme. Earlier today there were reports that James Harden and the Oklahoma City Thunder were working on a contract extension. Harden reportedly turned down a four-year $52 million extension as he was seeking a max contract from the Thunder for four years worth $60 million. NFL: Bounty Hearing Rescheduled Due to Approaching Hurricane
The bounty case drags on but this time it’s due to the weather. With a hurricane targeting the East Coast and the suspended players targeting former Commissioner Paul Tagliabue for recusal, a hearing that had been set for October 30 on the appeals of the suspensions has been postponed.
