12-Years A Slave actor, Benedict Cumberbatch put himself in a position that may be hard to pull back from. “I think as far as colored actors go, it gets really difficult in the UK, and I think a lot of my friends have had more opportunities here [in the U.S.] than in the UK, and that’s something that needs to change,” Cumberbatch said to PBS talk show host, Tavis Smiley. The term “colored” being a possible game-changer for the English native. This slipping in the midst of him speaking on inequality among black actors in the U.K. Cumberbatch has since felt major guilt for the term and release a statement of apology.
