Billboard’s Top 10 Album Sales, Week Ending 2/15/15 … Congrats To Drake On A #1 Album!

In just 3 days (as Billboard closes out its tally each week on Sunday nights and Drake dropped late Thursday night,) Drake managed to move 495k hard copies of his “mixtape,” If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late, as well as break a Spotify record with more than 17.3 million first-week streams. The project will undoubtedly go gold by next week’s charts (if not already,) and with Billboard’s new SPS (sales plus streaming) methodology, it’s actually already at 535k. No word whether this will ever be available other than digitally, but Drizzy’s official studio album, Views From the 6, is due out later this year. And It’s Just A Mixtape! Guess How Much ‘If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late’ Is Projected To Sell!

Drake pulled a Beyoncé on Thursday, and out of nowhere, dropped a “mixtape” on iTunes…which is basically a full-length studio album that he’s just calling a mixtape. Now just like Bey as well, Drizzy is on pace to make a KILLING in sales and place quite high on this week’s Billboard charts. With just 4 days of sales tallied (since Billboard closes each week on Sunday night, and Drizzy released this late Thursday instead of the traditional Tuesday,) If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late will likely sell more than 500,000 copies, easily making it a contender for the number 1 spot. This would make for Drake’s fourth number 1 album. Insane! Can’t wait to see what Views From The 6 does!

Billboard 200’s Top 10 Album Sales, Week Ending 2/8/15

As Taylor Swift continues her reign at the top of the Billboard 200 with 1989 at its 11th week in the number one spot, Kid Ink broke the top 20 with Full Speed…but didn’t quite make the top 10. Despite the success of its first single “Body Language” with Tinashe and Usher, and the rising success of the second single “Hotel” with Chris Brown, Full Speed sold 29k units since its release last Tuesday, landing the #14 spot. The number also includes 3 million streams and 65k single songs sales, so it’s not exactly a flop. Check out the full list of Billboard 200’s Top 10 below.

While last week’s only debut was Rae Sremmurd’s SremmLife, the guys have fallen way out of the top 10 album sales chart for the Billboard 200, but there are 2 who are still holding strong – Nicki Minaj and J. Cole!
