NBA: 2017-18 Salary Cap to be Lower Than Expected; Warriors Might Not be Able to Keep Durant

The salary cap for this upcoming season went up to an astounding $94 million.  It was expected to be even higher for the 2017-18 season, and while it will be higher, it won’t be as high as expected.

NBA: Kevin Durant’s Next Contract Could Hit $200 Million If He Stays With OKC

In 2016 Kevin Durant will become a free agent, luckily for him that’s the same year the NBA’s new TV deal will kick in which will significantly raise the salary cap.  There are already several teams in the hunt for Durant including the Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks but the Oklahoma City Thunder want desperately to keep their star.  OKC has one up on the other teams, they can offer Durant the longest and richest contract, in fact the contract could be record breaking.

NBA: Salary Cap Expected To Rise Nearly $5 Million Which Will Help Other Teams Sign Carmelo Anthony

The New York Knicks are the reportedly the favorites to re-sign Carmelo Anthony since they hired Phil Jackson as the new president of basketball operations and they are the only team that can offer him a five-year, $129 million contract.  Things might become more interesting however with the projection of the new salary cap and the fact that the Knicks failed to reach the playoffs making it the first time Anthony has missed the postseason in his career.
