NFL: New York Giants Release Domestic Abuser Josh Brown & a Statement

Today I posted a statement from New York Giants kicker Josh Brown, who apologized to the team, and denied that he ever hit his now ex-wife, Molly.  The statement was obviously a lie after previous journals, letters, and emails from Brown revealed that he pushed his wife into a mirror, threw her on the floor, pushed her face into carpet jumped on top of her and MUCH more.  Shortly after the Brown’s statement was released, the Giants announced that they were releasing him from the team.

NFL: Roddy White Defends Odell Beckham Jr. Being Emotional

The emotional state of Odell Beckham Jr has been a major topic of the NFL.  Different people have been weighing in on whether or not he’s a distraction for the team.  Oddly enough, Beckham’s quarterback Eli Manning, and his former coach Tom Coughlin agree that he’s a problem while opponents Cowboys WR Dez Bryant and former Falcons wide receiver Roddy White are standing up for him.

NFL: Refs Instructed to Watch Players Provoking Odell Beckham Jr, Tom Coughlin Wants to Help Too

The New York Giants are very dependent on their star receiver Odell Beckham Jr., but this season he has been more of a distraction than a helper.  OBJ feels not only is he a target for quarterback Eli Manning, he’s also a target for the referees as everyone is watching him and his uncontrollable emotions.  He had a career-worst 23 receiving yards on just three catches against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. He also was flagged for a taunting penalty, and he repeatedly clashed with Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes just one week after his latest confrontation with outspoken cornerback Josh Norman.  Beckham says he’s he’s not having fun anymore.  Former Giants coach Tom Coughlin (2004-2015) says he wants to help the young player.  The league is also helping Beckham as well.

NFL: Eli Manning on Odell Beckham Jr. Being a Target: He ‘Brought That Upon Himself’

Odell Beckham Jr. went from the best player on the New York Giants to people wondering if he’s a distraction for the team.  The receiver has become increasingly emotional and uncontrollable, and it’s costing the team.  Following the Giants loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Beckham says he’s a target no matter what he does and when asked about that, quarterback Eli Manning says Beckham brought it on himself.

NFL: Odell Beckham Jr. Says He’s a Target: ‘If I sneeze the wrong way, it will be a flag’

Odell Beckham Jr. lost his cool again during the New York Giants’ 24-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, where he had a career-low 23 receiving yards.  Beckham was exchanging verbal barbs with Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes for several plays when Rhodes hit Beckham out of bounds after a 4-yard catch.  The referees did not penalize Rhodes for the late hit, but Beckham was hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when he charged and bumped Rhodes.  Beckham said he has to do a better job of understanding that he’s one of the most targeted players in the NFL.

NFL: Eli Manning Says Odell Beckham Jr. Needs to ‘Raise His Level’ of Play

The New York Giants finished at 6-10 in both the 2014 and 2015 seasons.  Many players underperformed and they lost their star receiver Victor Cruz after he suffered a torn patellar tendon in 2014 that cut his season short then missed the entire 2015 season after undergoing calf surgery.  There was one bright light however, receiver Odell Beckham Jr. became an instant star when he hit the field.  Beckham broke Randy Moss’ record for most receiving yards in their first two NFL seasons.  He finished with 187 catches for 2,755 yards and 25 touchdowns while missing five games.  The Giants have tried to improve the rest of the roster this offseason, but quarterback Eli Manning says that the team needs even more from Beckham if they are going to succeed in 2016.
