NFL: One Officer Resigns & Others Disciplined Over Treatment Of NFL Player Nate Allen

Before safety Nate Allen become a Raider this off season, he was arrested as a member of the Eagles in February for indecent exposure in Fort Myers, Fla., and spent 4 1/2 hours in a holding cell until it became obvious he wasn’t guilty of such a crime. More than five months later, Allen received an apology for the incident and the officers involved received the appropriate punishment.

The Dallas Cowboys got over the loss of DeMarco Murray pretty quickly, although that doesn’t mean they are better off for it. The Cowboys announced today they have agreed to terms with Darren McFadden, who has spent all of his injury plagued career with the Raiders. McFadden will not put up the same type of numbers Murray did, but if he can stay healthy he is not a bad option.


NFL: Maurice Jones-Drew Releases Statement Saying It’s Time To Retire From The NFL

Maurice Jones-Drew announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday by posting a message on Twitter saying that “all good things come to an end.” In his note on the matter, Jones-Drew called his 9-year playing career an “amazing” time and said he is looking forward to the next chapter of his life. Jones-Drew was a powerhouse type running back just a few seasons ago, but injuries, contract disputes and a lackluster season with the Oakland Raiders last year slowed down his momentum. He never looked right in the black & silver of the Raiders and he likely wasn’t going to be much of a factor moving forward anyway.

This is a scary story for anyone. Raiders offensive lineman Donald Penn had to fight off a home invasion recently, and luckily because of his size he was able to fight the guy and hold him down until police came.
