NBA: With New TV Deal LeBron James Could Break Michael Jordan’s Record & Make $34 Million In a Season!

While some thought he might bolt again, it became clear that LeBron James only signed a two-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers because he anticipated the NBA’s new TV deal and the subsequent rise in the salary cap.  Of course it was a very smart decision as the NBA signed a nine-year, $24 billion deal with ESPN and Turner effective in 2016.  While the following official cap numbers are not yet available it has been estimated that the cap will jump to $84 million for the 2016-17 season.  As the league’s best player James is expected to get a significant contract, one that could break the record.


NBA: Lebron Says He Wishes the NBA Didn’t Have a Salary Cap After Miguel Cabrera’s Huge Deal

With no salary cap it appears MLB contracts just keep getting bigger and bigger.  On Friday Miguel Cabrera signed a contract extension with the Detroit Tigers that would guarantee him $292 million over the next 10 years.  That totally eclipses what Lebron James is making and as the best player in the league it’s only right he would wish the NBA didn’t have a salary cap as well.  It would be interesting to see what his contract would look like.


NFL: Dallas Cowboys Will Be $31 Million Over the Salary Cap

The Dallas Cowboys are projected to be at least a league-leading $31 million over the salary cap next season.  The Cowboys will face what one NFL executive called “a train wreck” in terms of their salary-cap issues.


NBA Sets 2013-14 Salary Cap & 6 Teams To Pay Luxury Tax; Lakers Hit Hard!

Last night the NBA announced that the 2013-14 salary cap will be set at $58.679 million (up from last season’s $58.044).  They also revealed that 6 teams will have to pay the NBA luxury tax with the Lakers owing the most at almost $30 million!!!  DAMN!  That’s just crazy.
