Auto Talk: BMW M3 Sedan being worked out on the ‘Ring

Now that we have a clear glimpse of the 2012 BMW 328i and 335i, it’s time for us to set our sights on the next chapter of the 3 Series story: the M3. Our trusty spy photographers caught this prototype doing its thing on the Nürburgring, and though there’s still lots of swirly camouflage, it’s pretty easy to see how the new 3 Series’ design will adapt to the bulgier M shape. Auto Talk: Roding Roadster stages massive improvement

It appears that Roding has been hard at work on developing the company’s Roadster prototype. Spy photographers managed to click a few photos of a new version of the vehicle out for laps at the Nürburgring, and the latest iteration is a massive leap forward from the old fin-laden mule we first saw this time last year. Whereas the first version looked as if it was the product of an electric shaver and an Audi R8, the newest version actually looks plenty becoming. While some of the original angles remain, the carbon fiber bodywork now wears a more proportioned appearance. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: Scion FR-S getting ready for race debut at ‘Ring

Remember how the Lexus LFA race car debuted long before we ever saw the final production car? Well, it appears that parent company Toyota is planning to pull a similar stunt with its FT-86 Scion FR-S coupe. Funk Flex

Auto Talk: 2012 Tesla Model S

The 2012 Tesla Model S is set to go on sale by the middle of next year, but there has been only a smattering of pricing and production news about the electric sedan since we got our first look at the car two years ago. Then, out of the blue, a reader snagged these shots of a Model S mule whirring about in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The prototype wore no camouflage—although its loose-fitting body panels made it look as though it had spent some time in a rock tumbler—so we were able to make out a few subtle differences between the production Model S and the cars Tesla has been showing off for a while. Auto Talk: 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

A bit of tape on these otherwise ordinary-looking cars have rumors flying that the next-generation Mustang GT500 could be twin-turbocharged. (Well, the tape isn’t the sole reason behind the speculation; the intercoolers visible in their grilles are fanning the flames, too.) But we’re not buying it. Superchargers also need intercoolers and, as we previously reported, the next evolution of the Shelby GT500—due as a 2013 model—again will be supercharged. This time, it’ll have upwards of 600 hp. Auto Talk: Porsche Panamera facelift already spotted out and about

The Porsche Panamera has been around for a few years now, and that means it’s about ready for the standard mid-cycle nip and tuck. Our spy photographers caught the German sports sedan wearing a dab of camouflage to cover up a few of the updated facial features, especially around the forward lighting areas. Funk Flex
