Yesterday while out in LA, Chris Brown had illegally parked his car and was close to getting a ticket. The paparazzi that had been following him had actually alerted the cops to the illegal parking, I’m guessing to be able to catch Chris getting a ticket on film. However, Chris was able to talk his way out of the ticket but still had a few choice words for the photogs that tried to snitch. “Y’all n*ggas is weak. Did you all call them to try and film me? Y’ALL N*GGAS IS GAY.” Ah, Chris. They got you right where they wanted you. Now those comments have caused a stir amongst the gay community, with a gay rights group deeming his statement “unacceptable,” adding, “He irresponsibly neglected to recognize the impact of his words and the unacceptable message that it sends to couple the word gay with negative actions.” Continue reading for more.

Now personally, I know that Chris meant it in a completely different way. It had nothing to do with their sexual orientation and in that sense I think it’s SO unfair that they are blasting him like they are. However, in the wake of the controversial couple of years he’s had, he should know people are WAITING for him to mess up and he really should be more careful with his words. Not to mention, we really shouldn’t use the word “gay” to immasculate someone or diss them. I know the word has become so densensitized over the years because it’s used so commonly, but it falls in the same exact category as the use of the “n-word” and how careful we all should be with that as well. Just as people of different races have been oppressed and gone through enough unnecessary hardships, the gay/lesbian/transgendered community have gone through that as well and we really should make a more conserted effort to remove those words from our vocab all together. There are plenty of other words you could use if you really feel like pissing someone off, LOL. But in 2011, let’s work toward a better community and keep our words as positive and least offensive as possible!!
