Yesterday while out in LA, Chris Brown had illegally parked his car and was close to getting a ticket. The paparazzi that had been following him had actually alerted the cops to the illegal parking, I’m guessing to be able to catch Chris getting a ticket on film. However, Chris was able to talk his way out of the ticket but still had a few choice words for the photogs that tried to snitch. “Y’all n*ggas is weak. Did you all call them to try and film me? Y’ALL N*GGAS IS GAY.” Ah, Chris. They got you right where they wanted you. Now those comments have caused a stir amongst the gay community, with a gay rights group deeming his statement “unacceptable,” adding, “He irresponsibly neglected to recognize the impact of his words and the unacceptable message that it sends to couple the word gay with negative actions.” Continue reading for more.
Now personally, I know that Chris meant it in a completely different way. It had nothing to do with their sexual orientation and in that sense I think it’s SO unfair that they are blasting him like they are. However, in the wake of the controversial couple of years he’s had, he should know people are WAITING for him to mess up and he really should be more careful with his words. Not to mention, we really shouldn’t use the word “gay” to immasculate someone or diss them. I know the word has become so densensitized over the years because it’s used so commonly, but it falls in the same exact category as the use of the “n-word” and how careful we all should be with that as well. Just as people of different races have been oppressed and gone through enough unnecessary hardships, the gay/lesbian/transgendered community have gone through that as well and we really should make a more conserted effort to remove those words from our vocab all together. There are plenty of other words you could use if you really feel like pissing someone off, LOL. But in 2011, let’s work toward a better community and keep our words as positive and least offensive as possible!!
I completely agree with you FMF! There are too many xenophobic ignoramuses out there. However, on the cynical side, I’d like to add that if Chris Brown used to word “gay” and (hopefully) people are trying to avoid being like the wife-beating Brown, it may not be such a bad thing 🙂
this is gay
I am a lesbian, a dyke a bull dagger watever u wanna call it. I am not offened by wat chris brown said. That the way the youngstas talk now a days. My son is 18 and he loves his mama and he has lots of gay friends and they all talk like that. Leave chris brown alone
people are to sensitive, its just… gay
What ever happened to, freedom of speech? Everyone is so sensitive these days, you can’t say SHIT to anyone any more, without some organized group jumping in your ass…(no homo)..
fuck gay ommunity…fuck that gay shit…so what?? how u gonna explain fuckin a man…yall niggas gay for real!!!
It’s not about people being sensitive or taking away someone’s freedom of speech, hateful speech feeds violence (self and from others), which is what negatively speaking about a minority community (LGBT) perpetuates. How would you like it if the gay word were replaced by the n word and everytime something bad happened, someone said, “That’s so nigg@.” Try to be unselfish for a second and able to sympathize, at least for one second. Stop spreading hate.
SMFH that shit is so petty, i say Gay all the time, like “wow this class is so gay” ..am i directing that towards homosexuals ??? HELL FUCKING NO its just a cuss word people use… were not even talking or thinking about gay people stupid asses smh… and fuck gay people …weird ass humans, i wonder why there brains are fuck bunch of faggots i get called nigger all the time black people nowadays forgot that we still see confederation flags everywhere im from canada when i went to kentucky people hated me so much i felt weird but now i know not to go to those parts where im not welcomed gay people want everyone to accept what they’re doing and if people say they agree they probally don’t gay people have to slow down and understand we not that adjusted to it yet
I’M NOT GONNA GO TO A WHITE POWER MEETING AND FORCE THEM TO LIKE ME ITS NOT FAIR FOR THEM THEY’RE IS NO NEED FOR HATE BUT THERE IS A REASON WHY A WORD CALLED DISAGREE EXIST BECAUSE SOMETIMES PEOPLE DISAGREE AND WE CAN’T FORCE THEM TO LIKE US SO WITH THAT BEING SAID GAY PEOPLE SHOULD’NT FORCE EVERYONE TO LIKE THEM IF I SEE A DUDE WEARING A BACKLESS DRESS ITS MY RIGHT TO LAUGH I SHOULDN’T HURT HIM BUT IF I FEEL THATS IT WEIRD ILL LAUGH
I am so sick and tired of this gay and lesban agenda where you can’t say the word w/o being put on blast. Learn the difference between an adjective which describes and a noun which describes a person, place or thing. People use the word as an adjective to describe. It is a part of street talk. It wouldnt be a big deal if they would stop making it such. The Gay alliance needs to get a life other than attempting to dictate the discourse of what people say.
