BMW is about to make current and future 1 and 3 Series sedan owners happy. At least, the ones seeking a tick more performance. The automaker is now offering the BMW Performance Edition as a a limited-availability option package on 2011 335i sedans. It will also be made available to existing 135i and 335i customers beginning later in the year.

The BMW Performance Edition is comprised of a power kit, a pair of blacked-out kidneys for the nose and a BMW Performance Edition badge. The grille treatment and badge are a nice touch, but it’s the power kit that holds the meat of the group. Engine output is raised from 300 to 320 horsepower and from 300 to 317 pound-feet of torque for manual-transmission equipped cars and 332 lb-ft for the automatics.

The best part? Checking this option on your order form will only run you an extra $550. That figure is for new cars, while the retrofitted price plan will come out later in the year.
