A couple of weeks after announcing his return to the game, Brandon Roy has suddenly become a popular free agent option.  According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Roy has narrowed his options down to 5 potential teams:

the Chicago Bulls, the Dallas Mavericks, the Indiana Pacers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Golden State Warriors.

Roy was one of the league’s elite guards when he was healthy, and was a dynamic scorer who could take over a game at any given moment. He was forced to announce his retirement following last season after struggling with knee problems.  Brandon Roy underwent the same knee procedure that Kobe Bryant had done in Germany.

After team doctors pushed Roy to stop playing last year, the Blazers used the league’s new amnesty provision to pay him the remaining $63 million on his contract and make him a free agent. He’s been working out for several months and planning a comeback.
