Evelyn Lozada is said to have played a major part in her ex-husband Chad Johnson avoiding jail time for assaulting her as she allegedly asked the judge to spare him from doing time.

Instead of serving time behind bars, the 34-year-old former Miami Dolphins player was alternatively sentenced to probation and required to attend anger management classes, something which Chad has said he already taken up.

Although the maximum penalty for misdemeanor domestic battery is approximately a year in jail, the prosecutor informed the judge that Johnson’s ex-wife, Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada, did not want to see Chad go to jail.

”She did not wish to proceed with the prosecution and certainly did not wish that Mr. Johnson be incarcerated as a result of this incident,” said prosecutor Sarahnell Murphy.

Johnson agreed to cut all forms of communication with his ex-wife, with the judge telling him that it also included ”No email, no Twitter, no text.”

The former NFL star has said that he hopes to reconcile with Lozada in the future, but after promising the judge today that he will not attempt to contact her, it seems like it won’t be happening!
