Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love will miss the next six to eight weeks after breaking his right hand in a workout on Wednesday.
The team made the announcement after practice, saying Love broke the third and fourth metacarpals on his shooting hand during a morning workout.
It’s a crushing blow to the Timberwolves, who already will be without star point guard Ricky Rubio for at least the first six weeks while he recovers from a torn ACL in his left knee.
Love is a two-time All-Star who led the team in scoring and rebounding last season. He also played a key role in Team USA’s march to the gold medal in the London Olympics.
The injury likely means more playing time for Derrick Williams.
