At long last, the doors of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, opened wide for two-time Super Bowl-winning New York Giants coach Bill Parcells and prolific receiver Cris Carter, who both finally received the Hall call of a lifetime.

Parcells and Carter were joined by three first-year candidates — Dallas Cowboys guard Larry Allen, Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden (first Raven in the Hall) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Warren Sapp.

The five modern-day members were joined by two seniors, former Kanas City Chiefs and Houston Oilers defensive tackle Curley Culp and former Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins linebacker Dave Robinson.

Parcells who was considered the biggest snub of 2012 was finally chosen after being a four-time finalist.  This was Carter’s sixth consecutive bid to get into the Hall after failing as a finalist five times previously.  This is indeed a great class but I’m a little ticked off at Sapp being chosen over Michael Strahan (maybe I’m bias).  The finalist to make the top-10 who ultimately weren’t elected were: running back Jerome Bettis, defensive end Charles Haley, receiver Andre Reed, defensive end Michael Strahan and cornerback Aeneas Williams.
