The U.S. Department of Energy said earlier Wednesday that it expects the average price of a gallon of fuel to be $3.55 for the 2013 year. Now depending on where you live as you read this, that number may be too high for you to believe or too low. As far as myself, living in the New York area, at this rate I would not mind the average price being $3.55. Now keep in mind, when they do the average, that is based on the entire country. Some states have much cheaper prices for gas, such as New Jersey and some southern states. But out west, in states like California , the price of a gallon right now is not far from $5.00. Still, the $3.55 average would be about 10 cents lower than the average from 2012, and they expect the number to be about another 10 cents lower in 2014. Maybe one day before I die, I will see a “2” as the first number in a gas price. What I would give for the days when I was 17 and had a Honda Civic with a manual transmission that would literally fill up from empty with $12 bucks! SMH. We can all hope for those days again.
